LokTime Foundation
Mission Statement
LokTime Foundation is dedicated
to the science and engineering of human neural emulation. LokTime Foundation
will both sponsor and perform research in a number of areas leading to practical
neural emulation on the scale necessary for human brain uploading.
The focus of the LokTime Foundation will be on one methodology that we deem offers
the best chance of success. This involves the preservation of the whole brain
after death and at a later stage slicing it into ultra thin slices, scanning the
slices with sophisticated imaging equipment and reconstructing the neural networks
from these images. The reconstructed neural networks are then reduced to parameters
that will drive a neural emulator and the person will be "alive" again in a
computer generated virtual world. This does not rule out contact with the real
world via I/O devices or ultimately an android body. A nearly human looking facsimile
will likely be available within a century or so for those that
want them and can afford them.
Other approaches to neural uploading include scanning the brain of a living
person using various techniques including MRI and PET. The resolution and tissue
identification required for such a volumetric non-destructive use does not
appear to be feasible with the extension of any technology that can be
identified today.
